Chateau Maugresin de Clotte 05

  • Area: France, Bordeaux
  • Grape: 40% Merlot, 25% Cab Sauv, 25% Cab Franc, 10% Malbec
  • Alcohol: 14%
  • Rating: Black 86, Dilettante 87
Description: On the nose there are elements of vanilla, spice, saddle leather and dark fruit. The attack is sophisticated with depth. Flavors of dark fruits, tobacco, chocolate, leather and earth tones are meaty in the mouth. The finish is very dry and lingering. This wine has a great attack and a wonderful finish but for some reason it stumbles and falls in the middle. I guess that's why it isn't more expensive. Decant 30 minutes to loosen it up. Nice with duck.

Price: $14
