Castano Solanera Vinas Viejas 2004

  • Area: Spain, Yelca
  • Grape: 65% Monastrell, 20% Cab Sauv, 15% Tintorera
  • Alcohol: 14.5%
  • Rating: Black 80 Dilettante 80
Description: Custom blended for Eric Solomon, it is unfined and unfiltered. The nose is very spicy with notes of allspice, clove, mocha and tobacco. The attack of unripe grape seeds and pomegranate overwhelms the taste of black fruits, burning leaves and spice. The finish is even stronger than the attack with black current, tobacco juice and bold dry tannins. This is an odd little wine that presents all its flavors in the back of the mouth. Decanting has little impact.

Price: $16
