Venta La Ossa 2005

  • Area: Spain, La Mancha
  • Grape: tempranillo
  • Alcohol: 14.5%
  • Rating: Black; 91 Dilettante; 90 NWJR; 90 The Z; 91
Description: The color is deep violet like a Malbec with dark fruit, oak and Asian spice on the nose. This full bodied beauty is dark, rich and very sexy. This cold-night fireplace wine is loaded with dark fruit, cassis, spice, and a little vanilla. It starts out sweet and finishes dry. Straight out of the bottle, the lingering finish has a bit of heat on the end. It’s certainly not ruinous. Decanting for 30 minutes reduces the sweet, removes the heat and dries it out. Accents of fresh loam show up too. We really liked this one, in all its forms.

Food Pairing: Steak with truffle oil
Movie Pairing: The Libertine
Musical Pairing: Danny Elfman
