Esencia de Monte Vinos de Terrunos 2005

  • Area: Spain, Yelca
  • Grape: Monastrell (50 year vines)
  • Alcohol: 14%
  • Our Rating: Black: 89 Dilettante: 85 NWJR: 86

Description: The nose has elements of dark berries and flowers. On the palate it’s tightly wound with licorice, bitter red and dark fruits. The finish is dry and short. When decanted for 20 minutes the wine softens up little. Robert Parker gave this a 90 rating. As you can see, we didn’t agree.
Food Paring: gooseberry lamb or goat.
TV Pairing: This wine is much better with food. If you must, try it with “6 Feet Under”.
