De Martino 2007

  • Area: Chile, Maipo Valley
  • Grape: 50/50 Cab Sauv, Malbec
  • Alcohol: 14%
  • Rating: Black 89 Dilettante 90
Description: This precocious wine has a nose of vanilla, cigarbox, violets, dark fruits, earth and a touch of pomegranate. It attacks with dry blackberries and mellows into a rich and mouth clinging bouquet of dark ripe fruit. The finish is solid with notes of cardamom, grape seeds and a touch of pomegranate. This well balanced wine is good with and without food although the flavors will change. As a sipping wine, we discovered a vibrancy that our dinner of steak and chantrelles muted. Decant 15 minutes. After 1 hr in the decanter, the malbec qualities are more pronounced.

Price: $12

Note: Made with organic grapes.
