Primitivo Quiles Raspay 2002

  • Area: Spain, Alicante
  • Grape: Monastrell
  • Alcohol: 14%
  • Rating: Black 93 Dilettante 92
Description: From 80 year old vines, this wine was aged 12 months in seasoned American oak. Bottled without fining or filtration, it can throw some schmutz. Aromas of smoke, chocolate, prune, mushrooms are highlighted by vanilla and spice. The attack is very black licorice and jam. Complicated flavors of strawberry, kirsch, mineral, spice, damp earth and spice wrap around a dark fruit core. Thick and lush in the mouth. The finish has impressive energy and length. Beautifully orchestrated from start to finish, we will definitely buy this again. Decanting helps cut down on sediment.

Price: $20
