Don David Malbec Reserve 2006

  • Area: Argentina, Mendoza
  • Grape: Malbec
  • Alcohol: 13.9%
  • Rating: Black 88, Dilettante 87, Nwjr 88
Description: Cranberry colored with a bright red rim. Aromas of wood, tobacco, cranberries and a hint of popcorn waft out of the glass. Despite the 12 months this wine spent in French and American oak, there is only a subtle flavor of wood. This wine is not as powerful as most Malbecs, so we call it 'Malbec Delicate'. Complex with loads of dark fruit, it harmonizes into one great flavor that was difficult for us to pick apart. The lingering finish is mellow with sweet tannins. Decanting 20-30 minutes brings out a richness that isn't present straight out of the bottle.

Note: Don't pair this with roasted lamb. It makes the lamb taste gamey.

Price: $13
