Falset Old Vines 2003

  • Area: Spain, Monstant
  • Grape: 85% Grenache, 15% Cab Sauv.
  • Alcohol: 14%
  • Rating: Black 84, Dilettante 86
Description: The nose has intriguing aromas of cola, licorice, cherry, with an oaky spiciness. The full bodied and flavorful attack mellows into fruity flavors of dark berries, wood and cherry. In the mouth it has nice intensity and dryness. The finish is bright, tart and very long. Black said, "has the elements of good breeding, but it's a bit uppity."

Decanting required for at least 30 minutes. It's very tight and angular upon opening, especially on the finish.
