Mas Donis Barrica 2005

  • Area: Spain, Montsant
  • Grape: 85% Old Vine (80+ yrs) Grenache, 15% Old Vine (30+ yrs) Syrah
  • Alcohol: 14%
  • Rating: Black 93 Dilettante 93
Description: Aged for 8 months in American and French oak. Unfined and unfiltered. Scents of smoky wood, violets and dark fruit waft out of the glass. The attack is sweet and the finish long and dry. It clings to the inside of the mouth giving it a seductive quality. Layered and complex flavors of dark fruit, spice, black cherry, and blueberry, mineral and purple flowers are smooth and rich with a nice lift. For around $13, it's an excellent bargain. Decant this one for about 10 minutes and it blossoms.
