Les Salyens Cairanne 2001

  • Area: France, Cotes du Rhone Villages
  • Grape: Grenache old vine 50%, Mourvedre 30%, Syrah 20%
  • Alcohol: 13.5%
  • Rating: Black; 84 Dilettante; 85
Description: Aromas of dark fruit, prunes and a hint of blueberry are soft and subtle. This chewy wine has flavors of sun-dried tomato with hints of spice with a low note of tobacco. The finish has soft tannins. This 'chameleon' wine has a tendency to change flavors with what ever is on the dinner plate. It tastes one way with a veggie, another with the main dish, another with the side dish. Black says, "This is a nice little French Country table wine."
Food Pairing: ratatouille, bouillabaisse, burgers, tarragon roast chicken
