Chateau Montfollet Cotes De Blaye Vielles Vignes 2005

  • Area: France, Bordeaux, Cotes de Blaye
  • Grape: 70% Merlot, 20% Cab Sauv, 10% Malbec
  • Alcohol: 13.5%
  • Rating: Black: 92 Dilettante; 92
Description: This is a classic Bordeaux with earth, vanilla and floral notes on the nose. Chewey and warm, it has pleasant flavors of toast, black current, damp earth smoke, and purple florals. The lingering finish has a spicy trail of woodland ferns. If a walk through an autumn forest had a taste, this would be it.

Note: This is a bit tight on opening. It needs about 20 min to relax.
Food Pairing: Grilled steak, rack of lamb
