Chateau du Moulin Noir 2005

  • Area: France, Lussac-Saint-Emilion
  • Grape: 70% Merlot, 20% Cab Franc, 10% Cab Sauv.
  • Alcohol: 13.5%
  • Rating: Black; 83 Dilettante; 82 Nwjr; 82
Description: This has a wonderful nose of earth, damp leaves, dark fruit, vanilla and a few floral high notes. Unfortunately, this is where wonderful begins and ends. After enjoying the full nose, we were disappointed with the rest of this wine. Rather bland flavors of dark fruit and soft oak are overshadowed by a tad too much acidity that doesn't go away with airing. This wine is certainly drinkable despite its unremarkable taste and finish. Decanting not required.
