Chateau Grand Barail 2004

  • Area: France, Bordeaux, Montagne St-Emilion
  • Grape: 65% Merlot, 35% Cab. Franc
  • Alcohol: 12.5%
  • Rating: Black; 90 Dilettante; 89
Description: Aged in oak for 8 months. The nose is very floral with a bit of vanilla. The palate exhibits supple tannins with a hint of acidity for lift. Lots of that great Bordeaux terroir melds beautifully with exotic flavors of rose petals, juniper, mulberry, hibiscus, and a hint of woodland fern. After a bit of airing, notes of cherry appear. The finish is long and dry. For a light to medium bodied wine, there's a lot going on here. Decanting not required.

Food Pairing: herb fried chicken, simply prepared lamb.
